A project for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, I managed the design and construction of a new campus plan for the Fort Funston Native Plant Nursery. The nursery is responsible for seed processing and specimen propagation for several large habitat restoration projects throughout the park. It is also home to multiple volunteer and educational programs. I worked with stakeholders to define the needs of the nursery and what areas needed improvement. Working with the limitations of the site and budget, we devised of a scheme that demolished deteriorated and dysfunctional structures and strategically inserted appropriately sized and sited alternatives.
I was responsible for managing all of the design phases, implementation, compliance, and project closeout.
Major moves included the replacement of a deteriorated retaining wall that defines the south and west edges of the site, construction of a new modular greenhouse with full irrigation and control systems, regrading and resurfacing the work and circulation areas, and reorganizing storage solutions throughout.
